Santa Rosa Beach Resort

Highway 30A in the Florida Panhandle is one of the most picturesque beach vacation spots on God’s green Earth. There are certainly times to enjoy those beautiful mountain vacations, but when you are in the mood for a Florida beach vacation, any of the many towns that dot 30A in Ft Walton County are the perfect place to go.

We chose Santa Rosa Beach this year instead of Grayton Beach which we visited a coupe of years ago and the Santa Rosa Beach vacation rental we picked out offers just about everything you could want on your home away from home for a week. It is a 4 bedroom 3.5 bath condo (we had guests at the beginning of the week) that overlooks a 12,000 sq ft pool and features a huge porch overlooking the ginormous pool as you can see from the pic below.

The great thing about renting a place in this area after September 1st is that it is the off season and the rates are significantly lower and there is hardly anyone here. For example, our condo is in a 4 story building with 1 condo per floor and we have the entire building to ourselves. We hit the pool every day and there are only a few people doing the same. Now one of the drawbacks of vacationing in Santa Rosa Beach or any of the towns along 30A this time of year is that there are several places that aren’t open. In fact it can be a little effort finding a restaurant in the vicinity of our rental right now, but we’d rather take that slight inconvenience and have our building and the pool almost all to ourselves.

Having the town a little less active is not that big of a deal really when just down the road 6 to 8 miles or so is Seaside that seems to be the central hang out for most of the vacation crowd along the 30A strip. The famous taco bar along with several other restaurants and shops are open year round and do get a fair amount of business.

So far we are having a great time on our vacation in Santa Rosa Beach. The weather has been fantastic (74 degrees and low humidity in the mornings), the food has been delicious as usual, the accommodations are spectacular and relaxation time has been more that refreshing. Hmm, this may be a lifestyle I could get used to.
