Seaside FL Town Square

Back in September of 2008 my wife and I took a much needed vacation for a week and spent it in Grayton Beach in the Florida Panhandle. It was one of the most relaxing vacations we have ever taken mainly because we had a beautiful home to stay in and because the location along Highway 30A which included the towns of Seaside, Santa Rosa Beach, Rosemary Beach, Watercolor, Alys Beach and several others was so peaceful it was incredible.

These communities along South Walton Beach are all master planned so everything you need is within walking distance including restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, entertainment and of course the perfect white sandy beaches.

We stayed in a beautiful 4 bedroom home in the Preserve at Grayton Beach that had hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and beautiful furniture that also made the vacation unforgettable. You can check out this Grayton Beach Rental here. Even though the home was a bit larger than what we needed, it was much less expensive than renting something through a property management or vacation rental company.

Our idea of a vacation may be different than alot of other people’s vacations. Jean and I like to take it easy and relax instead of shop till you drop or visit some amusement park. That’s why we usually choose vacation destinations that don’t have big attractions around the area. We enjoy finding a nice little local coffee shop and spending the afternoon there (PJ’s in Grayton Beach is fantastic and the food is out of this world), walking along the beach, taking out a canoe and enjoying rare coastal dune lakes and discovering quaint restaurants and eating out nearly every meal. That’s a vacation for us.

Probably the most exciting thing we did on our vacation was take a drive up to Destin FL, which was a little west of us, and go for a ride on a Waverunner. It was the quickest $75 I’ve ever spent but it was a lot of fun even though I wish the water would have been a little calmer.

So, if want one of those super relaxing vacations where the pace of life is somewhat slower than if you would visit Disney World or some such attraction, then check out the vacation rentals and things to do at Grayton Beach and along Highway 30A in the Florida Panhandle.
