As with many natural wonders, construction has threatened the lake more than once. Lake Tahoe is a major topic of discussion and public interest for groups such as the League to Save Lake Tahoe, who are trying to stop the development along the shoreline that is clouding the water and ruining its naturally clear and rich nature. There are even court battles that have ensued as a result of the desire to keep Lake Tahoe the way it is.

The only people who are affected negatively by the regulation of construction are the Tahoe Lakefront Homeowners Association, who all have homes on the shoreline that they are restricted from building on or remodeling for various reasons or without prior consent of the proper building authorities.

During the winter months, Lake Tahoe comes alive with ski resorts that attract thousands of visitors each year from all over the states, and even the country. Many people come here because it is known to have some of the best skiing in the world, and is well known for its winter beauty and the prevalent blizzards.

Snow tubing and sled parks are also prevalent in this region for those who aren’t quite adept at skiing or snowboarding, or those who want a more nostalgic adventure on the slopes. Lake Tahoe is a beautiful alpine destination for anyone, in any season, and one would hope that it remains untouched for many years to come so that everyone can enjoy this natural wonder.
