Tomorrow my wife and I will be heading off to Santa Rosa Beach FL, which is located in the Florida panhandle, for a 9 day vacation. Thankfully the BP oil spill didn’t damage the white sandy beaches of this vacation destination in Florida so everything is good. We have been to this area once before and stayed in nearby Grayton Beach along Highway 30a 2 years ago.

You will find the most picturesque little planned communities that have a small community feel mixed in with a Disneyesque sort of architecture and ambiance. Along Highway 30A in Ft Walton County you will find the towns of Alys Beach, Blue Mountain, Dune Allen, Grayton Beach, Inlet Beach, Miramar Beach, Rosemary beach, Santa Rosa Beach, Seacrest, Seagrove, Seascape, Seaside, Watercolor and Watersound. Hopefully I didn’t miss any. Each beach town has its own theme to go along with its shopping, restaurants, night life activities and clientele. You can pick from thousands of beach homes, condos and vacation rentals to enjoy while vacationing in this area.

There are an absolute ton of things to do here and great restaurants to visit and nice upscale shops to spend your money in. They also have one of the best taco bars you’ll find that just makes you feel like you’re on vacation. It’s called Bud & Alley’s Taco Bar and you don’t want to miss it.

The great thing about going to Santa Rosa Beach or anywhere along 30 A this time of year (September) is that it is the off season and you get the beaches almost to yourself, plus the rates on vacation rentals as much less. You do have the drawback of having less activities and sometimes fewer restaurants to choose from during the Fall months, but it is a great time to take a vacation in the panhandle of FL.

Anyway, just a short note and we’ll be blogging more about our trip while we’re there. Look for plenty of pictures too.
