Lake Tahoe is a freshwater lake that is located west of Carson City, Nevada, near the California border. It is the largest alpine lake in North America, and was formed more than 2 million years ago. The water is very clear, and provides a major tourist attraction both for California and Nevada.

There are many ski resorts, summer recreational facilities, and tourist attractions in and around the Tahoe basin, which is a term commonly used to refer to the area surrounding the area, and not just the lake itself. The mountains and scenery are among the main reasons that people visit this beautiful vacation destination, with the winter season being the most popular time for tourists to visit.

The shoreline of Lake Tahoe is located in California for the most part. About 2/3 of the shore is on the California side of the lake, including the south shore and the northwest shore, located in South Lake Tahoe, California and Tahoe City, California, respectively. There are highways within sight of the lake shore in many places, but the most important and protected elements are within national park boundaries or under the protection of the U.S. Forest Service, allowing the pristine beauty to remain exactly that.

Come back tomorrow to learn more about the wonderful vacation spot known as Lake Tahoe.

Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful and tranquil places I’ve visited. Although I’m not a travel expert or an expert on Lake Tahoe, I have created this hub as both a description of my time spent there and an invitation for you to consider Tahoe as a future travel destination. I have also included sections on the history of Tahoe, the wildlife of Tahoe, my experience there and, of course, a plethora of photos taken by yours truly!
