Can I let you in on a little secret though?
Smokey is a common misspelling of the word Smoky. Believe it or not, the correct name of the park is The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The reason Smoky is so often misspelled is because smokey is also a correct spelling as in Smokey The Bear.
However you want to spell it, it's still one of the nicest places in the country to have a great vacation.
You can enjoy the fun city of Gatlinburg that is the host city to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. You can spend the day in the Smoky mountains and then spend your evenings strolling through the shops of downtown Gatlinburg.
There are some wonderful, unique little shops in town, like in The Village. We liked the village shops because they provide less touristy and more upscale merchandise, food and great coffee.
If you like arts and crafts the Artist's Community is just outside of Gatlinburg. The 8 mile loop around the community features shops, artist's studios, galleries, cafes and some unique accommodations.
These are just some of the many activities to partake in during your stay in the Smoky Mountains.
