Ripley's Gatlinburg - The Odd Side Of Gatlinburg
Gatlinburg Tennessee is one of the premier vacation spots in the Southeastern United States mainly because of it's beautiful location in a valley just outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The area is know for it's natural beauty, hiking and sightseeing in the park but also it is know for some of the rather cheesy attractions on the strip in Gatlinburg.
One of those attractions is Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum. Robert Ripley who started the whole Ripley's Believe It Or Not craze was a strange and fascinating person.
He traveled the world in the early part of the last century and collected strange and bizarre objects.
His first display of his unusual collections was at the 1933 World's Fair in Chicago. Much of his collection is of questionable authenticity but it is fun to look at and wonder about. I used to read his cartoon books and comics as a kid.
There is a small part of his collection in the Museum in Gatlinburg Tennessee that contains oddities such as shrunken heads, hair from a Yeti (yea right!) and a two headed calf.
If you don't have anything better to do while enjoying the beautiful outdoors or staying in comfortable Gatlinburg TN Cabin Rental then you might want to visit Ripley's.
