We took a few days and rented a cabin in the Cascade Mountains this August (2010). The cabin was 25 minutes from Leavenworth. It was right by Lake Wenatchee and Plain Washington. This is right on Chiwawa River. It was so lovely. It was 2 1/2 to 3 hours from Seattle.

This was from the front window of the vacation cabin we stayed at in August (2010). It was in the Leavenworth/Lake Wenatche area of Washington state. It is a warmer, dryer climate than Seattle which is about 2 1/2 hours away. Climate changes once you go over the mountain summit.
