Lake Tahoe Heavenly Ski Resort

Heavenly Ski Resort
The view from atop Heavenly Ski Resort clearly demonstrates why and how this resort got its name. At over 10,000 feet, this ski resort has the highest summit of all the Lake Tahoe ski resorts. This mammoth resort, the biggest in the west, 4,800 acres of trails both in California and Nevada, has 91 trails and 30 chair lifts.

Most of the trails cater to the intermediate or expert/advanced skier, though 20% of the trails are for beginners, making this resort perfect for families and thrashers. And, the annual snowfall is 360 inches, more than any other ski resort in America.

Located on top of the mountain, Adventure Peak Snow Park provides fun for the entire family. There is tubing, sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snow biking. For the advanced skiers, runs like "Gunbarrel" and "Snakepit" will get the blood flowing and this year there is even more tree skiing. Four terrain parks provide snowboarders days of fun including a new super pipe, cut with a 22 foot pipe cutter.

The terrain is varied and stunningly gorgeous, but it's the view from the slopes that sets Heavenly ski resort apart from the rest. Standing on the slope, in full ski gear, there is nothing quite like looking out over the blue expanse of Lake Tahoe glimmering in the winter sun and the surrounding snowy granite mountains covered with Aspen and Ponderosa Pine.
